June, 1981 to November, 1984:

Worked as a Trainee Investigator at the Control and Investigation Bureau in the Western Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

My assignments with this Bureau included conducting investigations, preparation of legal memoranda and opinions on the different cases entrusted to me.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

October, 1984 to Present:

I was licensed to start my own private practice under license No. (190) on 14/2/1405(H), started my own law firm and started practicing on my own since then.

During the said period, I handled a wide variety of Civil, Commercial, Criminal and other cases and developed a good knowledge of case handling.

I obtained the Advocacy License from the Ministry of Justice No. 156/23 on 21/9/1423(H) corresponding to 25/11/2002 following the promulgation of Saudi Advocacy Regulations.
My practice varied and included, in addition to the normal daily legal work of the firm’s clients, negotiation and follow-up of contracts and agreements to which the firm’s clients are a party, and their execution; preparation of legal memoranda, research, contracts and agreements pertaining to Commercial Law.  I also participated fully, inter alia, in the drafting of contracts and agreements, and in the establishment and formation of companies, banking, banking documentation, liquidation of companies, arbitration proceedings and the preparation of legal opinions on different matters referred to or handled by the firm.
My practice covers different legal spheres and field including intellectual property (trademarks, trade names and Patents registration) for different clients, and Litigation before the Grievances Board, the Committee for Settlement of Commercial Disputes, the Sharia’a Courts, the Primary and Supreme Commissions for the Settlement of Labour Disputes, the Preliminary and Supreme Tax Appeals Committee, the Customs Committees, Arbitration Panels, Banks Syndicated Loan Agreements, Disputes before the SAMA Committee for the settlement of Banking Disputes, litigation, Commercial Papers and Negotiable Instruments, Zakat and Income Tax matters .
Worked closely with the British Law Firms of Beaumont And Son and Barlow, Lyde and Gilbert handling some of their work in Saudi Arabia.

April, 1972 to January, 1973: 

Worked as a Trainee Advocate in the Law Firm of Messrs. Attabani and Mohamed Yousif, Khartoum, Sudan.  Late Mr. Attabani was the former first Attorney General of the Sudan.

His assignments in this firm included assisting his master advocates in litigation, advising clients, preparation of legal memoranda, submissions and drafting of contracts and worked under their supervision and direction.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

January, 1973 to August, 1977:

He joined Sudan Judiciary as a magistrate working in Civil, Commercial and Criminal circuits. During this period, he was promoted three times: the first time to a District Judge of the Second Grade and the second time to a District Judge of the First Grade and the third to a Province Judge just one post before the Court of Appeal.

During that period, he handled a wide variety of Civil, Commercial, Criminal and other cases and developed an excellent knowledge of case handling.

August, 1977 to October, 1979:

He was seconded, as a Legal Adviser, to the Arab Maritime Transport Academy (an organization of the Arab League) in Alexandria.

His assignments included, in addition to the normal daily legal work of the Academy, negotiation and follow-up of contracts and agreements to which the Academy is a party, and their execution; preparation of legal memoranda, research, contracts and agreements pertaining to Commercial and Maritime Law. He also participated fully in the Technical Co-operation Agreement between the Academy and Japan, and the Agreements between Inter Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization (IMCO) and the Academy.

October, 1979 to April, 1981:

At the end of his secondment to the Arab League, he resigned from Sudan Judiciary and opted for private practice in the Gulf.  He joined the Law Office of Bujessaim and Al Maliki of P.O. Box 6633 and 1765, Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

His duties and assignments included, inter alia, drafting of Contracts and Agreements, Corporate Law (establishing and formation of companies), Litigation, Banking, Banking documentation, Liquidation of Companies, Arbitration proceedings and the preparation of Legal Opinions on the laws of the Emirate of Dubai – United Arab Emirates.

He obtained a license to appear before the courts of the Emirates of Sharjah.

April, 1981 to April 1985:

He joined one of the leading law firms, in the State of Bahrain, (as it then was), the Law Offices of Ahmed Zaki Yamani the former Petroleum Minister in Saudi Arabia.  My duties included, among other things, drafting of contracts and agreements covering different legal spheres and fields, Corporate law, Commercial matters, Banking, Intellectual property (Trade marks and Patent laws) litigation, preparation of Legal opinions on Sudanese and Bahrain laws and Syndicated Loan Agreements.  During this period, he developed a fair knowledge of Saudi Arabian regulations and laws as he travelled a lot to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to handle different client matters.

April, 1985 to June, 1995:

He was transferred from the Law Offices of Ahmed Zaki Yamani in Bahrain to their office in Riyadh.

My duties  and  assignments ranged  from opining on Saudi Laws and Regulations, Aviation Law, Environmental laws, to Incorporation of Companies, Litigation, drafting of different Contracts and Agreements, particularly the Unified Contracts for Sale of Oil

and Liquefied Gas for the GCC States, Management and Technical Services Agreements, Zakat and Income Tax matters, Commercial Papers and Litigation before the Grievances Board, the Committee for Settlement of Commercial Disputes, the Sharia Courts, the Primary and Supreme Commissions for the Settlement of Labour Disputes, the Preliminary and Supreme Tax Appeals Committee, the Customs Committees, participation in Arbitration, handling Banks Syndicated Loan Agreements and Disputes before the SAMA Committee for the settlement of Banking Disputes. The Firm acted as legal advisors and consultants to the Saudi Investment Bank, the Saudi American Bank handling all their legal work, syndicated loans, Investment Funds Agreements, Contracts and Litigations. He handled some work for the Arab National Bank.

He worked closely with the following International Law firms which were either partners or associated with the Law Offices of Ahmed Zaki Yamani in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:

           -  Surrey and Morse.

          -  Jones, Day, Reavis and Pouge.

          -  Graham and James.

           -  He worked closely as a legal correspondent with the leading British Law Firms of Beaumont And Son and Barlow, Lyde and Gilbert handling some of  their work in Saudi Arabia.

 At the beginning, he cooperated with the Law Office of Mohammed Sarawak until he joined them permanently and the owner of the Law Office and he formed a pillar in rendering distinguished legal services to the Office’s Clients.

 He was the legal adviser to MODA and MEPA on the Oil Spill cleaning efforts during the Second Gulf War 1991 and co-ordinated the work of the leading American Companies that participated in the efforts; at the same time he was a part time legal consultant to the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Eden..

As of June 1995, I was transferred to Jeddah working for both the Law Offices of Ahmed Zaki Yamani and the Law Firm of Mohammed Sarawak.
